Our vanilla produces vanilla powder that is extracted from the fruit in the form of a pod and is used as a food fragrance and as an essential oil.
Our vanilla is cultivated in several cities in the province of Papua, such as the Biak Regency, Jayapura City, Keerom Regency, Sarmi Regency, and Merauke Regency. Some 70 hectares of land have been dedicated to vanilla cultivation with more than 5,000 farmers. The production process consists of four stages: wilting and ripening, drying and storage, and finally conditioned storage. The vanilla pods undergo a wilting process aimed at arresting vegetative growth and promoting the activity of vanilla-forming enzymes.
The raw material for the best vanilla
Experience the true vanilla
Cuttings taken from productive plants should be obtained three months after pollination, taking into account plants with 6 to 8 developing pods.
failure is not an option
As regards to the vegetative material, an account is taken of the viable buds. The most tender shoots of healthy, productive plants which have not yet produced fruit and which have at least three viable buds are used as cuttings to produce vegetative shoots.
Our production
The total annual production of vanilla pods ranges from 48 to 50 MT. The monthly production is 4 MT.
The pods are dried in direct sunlight for up to 10 days, with no more than 2 hours of sunlight for 20 days and a further 30 days of shade drying. After this process, they spend a month maturing in order to develop their aroma. Once this process is completed, the pods are disinfected in 95% ethyl alcohol, vacuum-packed, and finally stored.
